Integrated approach for maintenance and quality control for a multi-component system

In this paper, an integrated approach for maintenance and quality control is proposed for a multicomponent system.The model in this paper is based on the selective maintenance policy and a sampling procedure considering the economic design principle for quality control. The objective is to obtain a minimum cost solution with availability, allowable maintenance time and average time to signal as constraints. The optimization of the proposed integrated model in this paper results into maintenance decision in terms of maintenance actions namely, repair, replace or donothing for the system components along with the values of parameters for sampling procedure like sample size, the acceptance number and the inspection interval between samples. A simulated annealing approach is used for getting the optimal solution. The application of the model is demonstrated through a case study of a high pressure die casting machine.
